The Hathras Case

The Hathras case is shocking. The High Court has stepped in and asked for the reports. It is hoped that sense will prevail and the culprits will not be spared.

This apart, it is also very important that the society as a whole is educated on the rights and duties of men also. The men have to understand that it is their duty to protect the women and not oppress them. The words that ' boys make mistakes ' have already done a great damage not only in U.P. but also in entire India.

We all also need to understand that the women are also partly to be blamed for this oppression. The women do not educate their sons and allow them to indulge in all kinds of lawlessness. They protect their sons and do not want their daughters-in-law to move forward in society. There is a different yardstick with these people for their daughters and daughters-in-law. They mistreat their daughters-in-law. Due to this patriarchic mindset, the boys after growing up remain boys even after marriage and start mistreating their wives. Such boys are from all sections of society all parts of India. They are from rich and well settled families also. Such boys want beautiful and highly educated girls as brides, want big doweries and very lavish weddings. But after marriage, they start mistreating their wives and the fathers and mothers and sisters etc. of such boys collude with the boys. Unfortunately, such so called boys are also highly educated and work in MNCs and draw high salaries. But inspite of working in such corporates, they do not learn any good things from there. They still suffer from the same degraded mindset. Due to the 'man is supreme' mindset, such boys also suffer from an inferiority complex and can not tolerate their wives moving up in their respective careers. The result is insecure women in society. Such boys and their families also expect the respective women to work in home and then work in office and then again in home after coming back from office. While women are great multitaskers and manage to do all this, the in laws are still not satisfied. Such women are also expected and forced to give their total salaries to their in laws or husbands. If the women do not do this, they are subjected to domestic violence. Very highly educated married young women also have to face this situation and they bear with it lest their parents are stressed.

So, it is time that not only the law is made deterrent but the men and women as such are also educated from the beginning. Boys and girls must be educated from the KG class. The elderly women and men need to be separately educated and counselled. Transformation will not happen overnight or even in some months. But if it is started, it will take some years but we shall start getting results.

We need to educate and sensitise all such persons working in corporates and other offices. There should also be a law that before marriage such persons have to undergo special counselling sessions conducted by psychologists and religious heads of their respective religions. We also need to educate and sensitise the administration and the Police.

Regarding Hathras case, I am sure Yogiji will take strongest action against the culprits and all, those persons who have been insensitive in this case and that law will take its course and justice will not only be done but done in a very fast speed.
